The Seacoast Women's Giving Circle was founded in April 2006 by a group of local women eager to use their skills and resources to address critical issues facing the Seacoast community.

Grant Process.

Our grant process begins in December when we post our grant application to our website, and distribute it to non-profit organizations, funders, stakeholders, and a network of community leaders on the Seacoast.

Keeping in mind our giving priorities and criteria, the Give committee reviews each grant proposal and narrows the list of potential gift recipients to five semi-finalists by March. The Active members have an opportunity to then learn about each organization's mission, history, and goals with regard to their specific grant request. From this pool of applicants, our group selects two finalist organizations. Leaders from each are invited to present to our Active members and answer any further questions we may have. From these two finalists, Active members select a recipient for our annual donation. For a month-to-month description of this process, refer to our Grant Calendar.

"Being a matching gift donor for the Giving Circle gave me and my husband an opportunity to expand the reach and impact of our charitable contribution to the New Heights youth program, which was matched 150% by Circle members and their friends. We were especially impressed by the thoughtful research and discussion that Circle members give to their selection process. The Giving Circle event also helped to publicize our program in the community and connect with new supporters."
